Absorbent background for dry pastel

This special Clairefontaine absorbent background for dry pastels is ideal for pastel or charcoal drawing on canvas. Almost transparent once dry, it offers a surface with a gripping grain and reveals the grain of the canvas. Easily dilutable, it can be tinted with water-based paint or pastel powder.

How is the pastel revolution primer used?

It is important to stir the mixture well.

On an unprepared canvas, add a little water to dilute the primer. Then apply using a paintbrush, brush or roller, alternating lines in one direction and then the other.

2-3 coats of primer may be required depending on the desired result.

Let dry well between each coat. Lightly sand the dry surface to achieve a velvety finish.

Draw in pastel and freeze your drawing using the Pastel Revolution Freezer (also on sale on the shop).

Don't forget to rinse your equipment immediately after use.
